Fulfilling Our Mission

Our primary activity is to provide food boxes to people who request them on our message phone.

We also provide vouchers that can be used at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift stores in the Phoenix area.  These stores carry furniture, appliances and clothing.

When people need financial help, we normally refer them to other organizations within the Phoenix area that are established to provide this type of help and get people back on their feet. We are not set up to provide financial assistance but on a critical need basis and within our available funds, we occasionally help people with partial rent and utility bills.

We operate totally on donations provided by St. James parishioners.  Our primary fund raising is by means of a special collection on the fourth Sunday of every month. Ten percent of the contributions are provided to the Phoenix St. Vincent de Paul organization in return for administrative, food support and other services that we use. Ninety percent of contributions go to serving the people within our parish boundaries. All labor is provided by volunteers from the parish.

Most of our food is provided from the SVdP warehouse in Phoenix as a monthly allotment of two or three food pallets. This food is currently provided free of charge. Perishable food is purchased by our conference.  All food is stored in the church pantry.
